Art Brochure
I designed this art gallery brochure, inspired by the artistic themes of the Constructivism movement, to accompany a fine art exhibit. Construstivism is reflected here in the bold colors, high contrast, clean lines and shapes. I started by designing the cover, studying font, style, color and effects, as well as the hierarchy of the text. I followed this up with grid/design exploration. The final layout structure is based on a dynamic grid, which reinforces the intuitive layout. Graphic elements from the cover are used throughout for continuity. One of the challenges of this project was creating spreads that were similar, yet not repetitive, in design. I used the black box as a continuity element, but soon discovered the amount of space it used left little room for variety in layout, if used with the grid. My solution was to design the second and fourth pages in a similar way and allow the third page design to be in contrast. I wrote the content and selected the imagery, and particularly enjoyed working the layout design.
